Paul says that architecture has taught him to see "the beauty and detail in everything. Aesthetics are in everything we do, see and touch." He need point no further than to the work produced at SmithGroup, he adds. "We are doing incredible design and great projects, and I love coming to work every day because of that." Paul particularly enjoyed working on Ford Field, the home stadium of the National Football League’s Detroit Lions, because of the partnership he felt with the contractors and his role as "trusted advisor" to the client. It was treat, he says, "to walk through the facility just before opening, taking pride that I was a part of a great team that produced this building." Along with that 1.8 million-square-foot stadium, Paul also takes pride in small projects: Creating stained-glass windows is a favorite hobby.
