SmithGroup hires Arnold Craig Levin as Workplace Strategist

SmithGroup has hired Arnold Craig Levin as workplace strategist. Levin will provide his industry-leading expertise to the firm’s growing Workplace Practice.

Levin is a recognized authority in workplace strategy, change management and organizational design. Prior to joining SmithGroup, he was managing director of workplace strategies at IA Interior Architects, Seattle, where he covered the Pacific Northwest and national market sectors. Levin also previously served as director of workplace strategy at Gensler, Los Angeles.

“Arnold Levin’s post-graduate research on organizational and workplace strategy is exactly what we need to push our design practice to a new level,” said David Varner, AIA, LEED AP BD+C, workplace practice leader at SmithGroup. “His expertise will help our clients find even greater success.”

Levin’s past clients include Airbus Industries, Barclays Capital, The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, General Dynamics, Capital One, Northrop Grumman and The Ritz Carlton Company. Recent, noteworthy projects include The Sun Yet Sen Cancer Center in Taipei, where Levin developed a workplace design strategy to foster collaboration between physicians, nurse practitioners and researchers; and the Beckman Coulter, Inc. for which Levin developed a workplace design strategy based on activity-based working.

Levin received dual Master’s degrees in Philosophy in Organizational Design and Business Administration from the University of Westminster in London, preceded by a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Environmental Design from Pratt Institute. He is currently working towards a Doctorate of Philosophy from the University of Westminster.

Levin serves on the leadership committee of Workplace Evolutionaries, a community of practice within the International Facility Management Association and is a member of the WCO, a body of workplace professionals aimed at raising the profile of workplace change. Levin is currently underway with a number of workplace strategy projects for key SmithGroup clients including Microsoft Corporation and Republic Services.
