Phil brings a military precision to his 40-year career in healthcare architecture. "I like getting things done, for clients and firms," he states simply. Prior to private practice, Phil served as an Officer with the U.S. Air Force's Office of the Surgeon General; since then, he has focused much of his career on military health, designing for every branch of the U.S. military and the Department of Veterans Affairs. One of his signature achievements surely is the Center for the Intrepid, the world's most advanced rehabilitation center for soldiers recovering from severe burns and amputations, and the National Intrepid Center of Excellence, for veterans suffering from traumatic brain injury. The architect in him is drawn to buildings like Gaudi's La Sagrada Familia in Barcelona. "Extraordinary vision, incredibly complex execution, an inspirational experience," he says. Along with serving on several notable boards, Phil has a hidden skill: serving as an auctioneer for fundraising events.
