Irene has long been drawn to exploring and solving complex problems; and has used this passion to fuel her career. As an architect with a background in urban planning, she has a particular interest in the role architecture plays within the larger urban and social context. "Architecture best reaches its purpose when it merges design excellence with technical innovation, and positively impacts the communities it serves." Irene’s extensive portfolio includes a wide range of highly complex research facilities, such as the home of the Cardiovascular Research Institute at the University of California San Francisco. She is highly skilled at developing creative solutions that resolve challenges throughout a project’s delivery process. "Watching a project develop from the initial concept into a building that can best serve our client’s needs never ceases to inspire me" she declares. Her favorite place to recharge her creative energy? Traveling. She has visited over 30 countries and cites Kauai as a favorite destination for snorkeling and hiking along the Na Pali Coast.
