Jeff Stanton

Jeff became an architect, like most architects, because of his love for design. Then, "I was fortunate to find great passion and creativity in sustainability as it relates to the built environment," he explains.  While serving as director of architecture for the Phoenix office, Jeff became one of the earliest LEED Accredited Professionals in the State of Arizona.  He ultimately shifted his focus to becoming a sustainability specialist for SmithGroup’s Phoenix office working with project teams in the achievement of sustainability goals. He has particular expertise working on technically challenging projects in the research, government and academic fields. Jeff feels a great professional responsibility to continually encourage and expand upon sustainable practices. "Design can enhance the human experience, but we must be careful not to have a detrimental effect on our natural systems," he notes. Jeff’s outside interests are decidedly low-impact on the environment: traveling, photography, hiking and cycling. Someday, he hopes to climb some of the famous mountain stages featured in the Tour de France.
