Nick is always looking for an opportunity to team with others and do great things. He enjoys strategic planning that enables sustainable growth and is focused on buildings and spaces that drive value for students while creating a unique sense of place. Nick started his career in architecture while still in high school, interning for a local firm. This curiosity led to a lifelong journey of learning that has taken Nick from studies in Rome to leading the Boston higher education studio. “I have focused on higher education because I knew I would never stop learning; it continually re-invents itself to adapt to technology and social change.” As he continues to build the higher education studio in Boston, Nick has one goal in mind: foster SmithGroup’s role as a trusted advisor to New England education institutions. A self-proclaimed massive Harry Potter fan, Nick is fascinated by the “precise, inventive, inclusive, thoughtful and enjoyable universe” created by J.K. Rowling. “From a certain perspective the ability to digest complex social issues and represent them from various viewpoints is a gift. She’s a comprehensive artist!” Nick strives to do the same for the built environment; he encourages the types of client/team interactions that allow the higher education environment to be a thoughtfully transformative and inclusive experience.
