The Healthcare Associated Infections Organization (HAIO) is a cohort of health systems, architects, engineers and general contractors in New England who have joined together to explore how to minimize or eradicate the spread of healthcare associated infections through design and construction interventions. SmithGroup is an active member of the organization since 2015.
Recently, HAIO Surge Solutions Steering team convened their member health systems to reflect upon their experiences during the three surges of this pandemic.
Health studio leader Andrew Brumbach joined the panel with designers from CannonDesign and Gensler to forecast designing for greater flexibility to adapt to future surge situations.
