For Breton, focusing his professional skills on healthcare projects is a seamless extension of a life rich with community service. Breton mentors young fathers, speaks to minority students about careers in architecture, serves on the board of Valley Community Healthcare, and is a director of GondoBay Manga Foundation, which advances education and healthcare in Sierra Leone. “I feel every person should have access to quality healthcare as a basic human right,” Breton declares. “Designing and building hospitals and medical clinics is my way of giving back and improving the world.” His portfolio ranges from specialty surgical centers and neurological rehabilitative centers to a K-5 school in Sierra Leone that replaced two grass huts. Breton names Nelson Mandela as the historical figure that fascinates him most. “To have been beaten, jailed, persecuted and then to persevere to become president of South Africa is a testament to the love of man,” he says.
