“It brings me a ton of joy to see a project complete, to see how clients live in it and how it helps them work better every day,” says Denise. Adaptive reuse strikes a special chord. She describes it as “breathing new life into our existing building stock." Being able to return energy and vitality to space that has sat vacant is as rewarding as preserving the craftsmanship of a historic building. She recalls leading the interiors team rehabbing the Depression-era Mercantile Bank in Dallas, advocating to save “truly unique and exceptional” Works Progress Administration mosaics. “I love the treasures that can be found in old buildings,” she says. “We are paying it forward when we preserve these gems and let them shine again for future generations.”
